can you confirm or deny that VH was piping in mike's harmonies last
tour? i've heard several times this was the case. you have as good of
a pulse on the band as anyone, so i was hoping you could chime in
about this.

I can say with 100% certainty that there wasn't any pre-recorded vocals helping Wolfgang or anyone else onstage on the '07 tour. There was a few times at the Los Angeles Staples Arena show I saw from the 6th row that tour where Wolfgang clearly missed a cue or wasn't right on the mic when he should have been and Eddie was not singing either and there wasn't any phantom backing vocals that would have been a giveaway had there been pre-recorded vocals. Plus on some songs, the band's tempo wasn't quite rock steady and it would have been *very* difficult for backing vox running on a sequencer (like the pre-recorded keyboards for Jump) to match what was going on onstage.

..... however, I can't say with any certainty that they didn't have "live" help with someone off stage singing backup vocals. A live singer even hidden offstage who's able to see what's going on as the band is playing either via line-of-sight or more likely from a tv monitor would be able to go with the flow if the band screws up or otherwise goes off script. FWIW, supposedly on the 1995 tour and the 2004 tour, offstage keyboard player Alan Fitzgerald also sang backup vocals (while Mike was still in the band, btw).

I will also mention that I was 100% convinced Wolfgang was playing all the bass stuff live.

came up? i recall reading/hearing it more than a couple times.

also, it seems strange how eddie sings back-up on most but not all
songs. like i said before, when he and wolf both sing, it sounds
noticeably better than when it's just wolf. do you know why eddie sits
out a few select, particular songs?? did he do this when mike was in
the band? i guess i didn't notice if he didn't when mike was in the
band...or is it just a few roth era songs that eddie never helped on
back-ups with??

oh yeah- what's your opinion of wolf's bass ability? is he the boy
genius eddie touts him as being? personally, i think he's adequate at
the very best. nothing special, at all, as far as i could tell.
