EVH has confirmed this song will appear on the new Van Halen album
next year as "Diamond Boogie Stomp" sung by David Lee Roth with a
wicked bass line added by Wolfie.
LOL

I thought at the time this was a cool riff and in the above post I
correctly predicted in 2009 it would be a new song on the new album. I
named it "Diamond Boogie Stomp". It turned out to be AS IS.

I also predicted it on 2.7.09 - exactly 3 years before the album was
released.

Isn't that veird?

The video is from the 2003 NAMM show.

isn't it wonderful how it only took fucking NINE years for this to
materialize as a full song on a studio album?? jesus christ they've
wasted a lot of good years. remember the days when they used to put
out an album a year? i know things have changed but it really
shouldn't be more than 3, maybe 4 years between albums.

Yes, I thought it would be cool if they released another 6 albums by
2020. I think they want to wait another 4-5 years so they can charge
$180 a ticket.

shit, if the economy picks up more and they do another tour in let's
say 4 years (i still can't believe it's been about 5 years since they
last toured), i really wouldn't be all that surprised if they tried to
charge closer to $250 for the high end seats. ticket prices have
really become outrageous.

It's too bad they couldn't go back to finishing records in two weeks,
like they used to. Van Halen was one of the few bands that could
release a five-star album every year--VH1 (1978), VH2 (1979), WACF
(1980) and Fair Warning (1981), for example.

To comment on the NAMM clip, it would have been interesting if Sammy,
during the 2004 debacle, wrote a song around that riff. Most likely,
Hagar would have produced this generic, middle-of-the-road rock song,
thereby substantiating the superiority of Roth's melodic
sensibilities.

Yes, I thought about if Sammy had been offered the song for the BOBW
sessions. This was about year before that. Even Tattoo is better than
those 3 crap songs they released.

Even when I heard it in it's rough form on th NAMM clip, I knew it was
a cool riff, that's why I posted that prediction.

Probably went like... "That's a cool song but I can't sing to that.
That's an instrumental. Next..."

It turns out that Eddie wrote it while he was on the can:

Isn't there some story about him coming up with words to Without You
while sitting on the shitter?

than anything you and I can do, I'll blow you both!" - Sammy Hagar

Well, considering that the song (not to mention the entire album)
sounds like shit, that would make sense. :-)
