got a ticket off a guy from craigslist a couple hrs before the show.
upper level but close to the stage on eddie's side for $50 (about $92
originally after TM charges). it was perfectly fine with the huge
video screen they have. i learned my lesson getting a $100 floor seat
last time. this ticket was virtually as good for half the price.
allstate arena's sound isn't as good as the united center's, however.
what's crazy is that for both chicago shows, there were a flood of
people trying to dump tix, even last minute, but somehow, both shows
ended up being full. not sure how that many people got rid of that
many tix last minute.
they played 15 minutes longer than last time, so 2 hrs total this time
out. dave sounded great- no mic malfunctions this time. he uses a
handheld now instead of that gay headset crap. i guesstimated al's
solo at maybe 4 minutes last time. i timed it this time and it was
less than 3 minutes. closer to 2 and a half, actually. ed's was 8
minutes this time, 7 minutes last time.
it's kind of weird how you really don't even notice wolf (besides the
start of runnin' with the devil). he just blends into the scenery and
seems like a non-factor (outside of doing all the back-up vocals).
bash mikey all you want but he was a spark plug and provided energy on
the stage.
and i don't know if it's just chicago or if dave does this in every
city but he threw another hissy fit about the blowers/fans near the
stage to keep things cool. he also openly made fun of one of the guys
working one of the spotlights. kind of makes him look like a diva/
asshole. dave did pull off 4 full fledged kicks that were real
impressive.
from memory, the different songs this show compared to last show were
no mean street or girl gone bad but they played outta love and the
full bug this time. wish they would've played all 4 in the same show.
those songs sounded great with the exception of the back up/harmonies
of girl gone bad being way off last time. would love to hear take your
whiskey home and in a simple rhyme. i believe they played the same 4
new songs (tattoo, china town, she's the woman, trouble with never),
which are some of the weaker ones, imo. they should be playing you and
your blues, stay frosty, blood and fire and outta space.
happy they played a little longer this time. still an expensive
ticket, especially with a ridiculous opener like kool and the gang.
glad i picked a cheaper ticket this time.
